Day three of our trip lands on the fourth day of July.
In our search for dry ice we found an almost too perfect town, Haliey, Idaho.
We rolled into town just in time for families to roll their coolers, wagons, and BBQ's down the street in preparation for what has to be an annual parade. There really aren't words for places like this. Picture Middle-American come mountain-town.
Our journey from Tahoe to Crater's of the Moon in Idaho was a quick 6 stop, 12 hour jaunt bisecting the Silver State in all it's red-ness.
Night two setting up camp north of midnight went twice as fast as our first go back in Donner State Park. (Go us!)
A mid morning bike ride out to the Inferno Cone was a welcome change to a day and half in the car.
The free internet from Albertson's is really slow, we will update again as soon as possible...
Good to hear about your trip. We got safely home from INdia and look forward to meeting up with you in Wyoming. We will be leaving here on the 7th, so hopefully we can meet up the 8th or 9th. We will try calling you. Take care.
ReplyDeleteHailey, Idaho sounds like a "slice of life." So glad you are getting to experience some local culture along the road. Have you had S'mores yet??? It isn't a camping trip without them. Have you seen any interesting wildlife? The only wildlife around here is Took in the laundry room...and Lucas. We miss you and love that you are having a great memory-building time!
ReplyDeleteso in the "Waiting" photo, are you waiting for Ol' Faithful?? did she blow? I'm ready for a new post on the Blog. Miss you so much. I'm going to check on the house today. I'll take my book and a crossword to cool off the place a bit.
ReplyDeleteCorrect! We are waiting for Old Faithful geyser - it fakes us out a few times before it went off. We have been working on posting but haven't had internet or cell access! Thanks for stopping by the house!
